THE PROMISES OF HIS COMING
Promise stands at the heart of hope. Jesus spoke clearly. The apostles affirmed the message. Prophets described the event in detail.
A promised return “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” -John 14:3 KJV-
Jesus spoke with assurance. His departure carried intention. His return carries fulfillment. Relationship remains the focus. He returns to receive His people. Presence stands as the reward.
This promise shapes expectation. Faith rests on His word.
A visible and physical return:
“Who said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing into heaven? This same Jesus, Who was caught away and lifted up from among you into heaven, will return in [just] the same way in which you saw Him go into heaven.” – Acts 1:11 KJV- Zechariah 14:3–5 describes the location and outcome. His feet stand on the Mount of Olives. The Lord fights for His people. All saints come with Him. Prophecy aligns across Scripture. History moves toward this moment. The return takes place openly. Earth witnesses the event. A victorious gathering 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17. The Lord descends with a shout. A trumpet sounds. The dead rise first. The living join them. Union with the Lord becomes complete. This promise brings comfort. Separation ends. Death loses authority.
Eternal fellowship begins:
Verse 16 “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud cry of summons, with the shout of an archangel, and with the blast of the trumpet of God. And those who have departed this life in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we, the living ones who remain [on the earth], shall simultaneously be caught up along with [the resurrected dead] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so always (through the eternity of the eternities) we shall be with the Lord!”-1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 AMPC-
“And you shall be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine“. (Leviticus 20:26, NKJV)

The Importance of Awareness and Preparation in Christian Faith
In the journey of faith, the concept of preparation is often overshadowed by fear. Many believers find themselves grappling with uncertainty as they await the fulfillment of God’s promises. However, true preparation is not rooted in fear; it is cultivated through the understanding of Scripture and a confident expectation of what lies ahead. This teaching matters because awareness shapes our readiness, understanding produces stability, and hope grows stronger through the truth of God’s Word.
The Hebrew Scriptures use the word (hākîn), meaning to establish, prepare, or make firm (as in Psalm 10:17 (NKJV): “Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart”. Preparation, therefore, begins in the heart, not with anxious activity, but with a posture made firm by trust in God’s purposes. In the Greek of the New Covenant writings, the term ἕτοιμος (hetoimos) captures readiness — not merely logistical preparedness but a spiritual alertness (Matthew 24:44(NJKV): “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”).
Awareness is a critical component of our spiritual journey. It allows us to see beyond the immediate struggles and trials, fostering a sense of readiness for what God has in store. When we immerse ourselves in God’s Word, we develop a clearer understanding of His character, His promises, and His plans for our lives. This understanding acts as an anchor, providing stability amidst the storms. As our awareness deepens, we become more equipped to face challenges with grace and courage in Yeshua.
Awareness in Scripture is tied to discernment, the ability to perceive beyond the surface of circumstances. Paul prayed that believers’ spiritual eyes would be enlightened:
“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints” (Ephesians 1:18, KJV).
GOD’S PROMISES ARE CERTAIN. The prophecy of the Messiah’s coming serves as a powerful reminder that God is in control and that His purposes remain unchanged regardless of our circumstances. By anchoring ourselves in the truth of Scripture, we cultivate a hopeful perspective, one that anticipates the fulfillment of God’s promises with confident expectation.
Preparation does not emerge from a place of fear but rather from the solid foundation of knowledge. Scripture provides the necessary directives to navigate life’s complexities.
Believers are called to a refined awareness, alert, steadfast, and rooted in Scripture. We prepare not out of anxiety for the unknown but in joyful expectation of the known faithfulness of God.
True preparation grows from understanding, not anxiety. Yeshua (Jesus) warned against worry and fear, saying, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself” (Matthew 6:34). The Greek word for worry, μεριμνάω (merimnaō), provides further insight, signifying to be pulled apart mentally. God invites us instead to a settled heart that trusts His timing and provision.
In Deuteronomy 8:2, Israel’s wilderness journey served as preparation “to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart.” Likewise, seasons of uncertainty in our lives are not meant to unsettle us but to refine our faith, forging steadfast readiness for God’s promises.
Let us live as the wise, trimming our lamps( read Matthew 25), keeping our hearts pure, our integrity intact, and our hope unwavering. For we await the One who promised, “Behold, I am coming quickly” (Revelation 22:12, NJKV).
It is through study, reflection, and ruminating on God’s Word that we gain insight and understanding, allowing our faith to respond in obedience.
When challenges arise or when we find ourselves in uncertain seasons, our knowledge of the Scriptures equips us to respond appropriately. We can draw from the depth of biblical truth, applying its principles to our lives. Each promise serves as a reminder that God’s faithfulness endures, challenging us to remain steadfast, even when the path seems unclear.
Living with Expectation and Integrity
Living with expectation is another vital aspect of readiness. We are called to embrace each day with hope, anticipating that God will fulfill His promises in His perfect timing. This expectation is evident in our daily lives; it encourages us to look beyond our present situations and trust that God is at work, bringing about His plans. Accompanying this anticipation is the necessity of walking in integrity. Our actions must align with the truths we profess to believe. The world is watching, and our integrity is a testament to the power of our faith. By living lives of honesty and righteousness, we not only honor God but also become beacons of His light in a dark world. Believers today are called to respond to God with a heart of awareness and trust. The certainty of Messiah’s coming reassures us that we can rely on His promises and that His purposes will always remain secure. As we examine where our attention rests, remain anchored in Scripture, live with expectation, and walk in integrity, we find ourselves better prepared for whatever life brings our way. Let us embrace this call to awareness and preparation, knowing that our faith will flourish in the light of truth. By trusting in the Lord, we can stand firm in the confidence that His promises will come to pass, working through us to fulfill His divine purposes.
STAY WATCHFUL. STAY GROUNDED. STAY PREPARED.
